Zwynd™ vertical axis wind turbines (VAWT) by FTC Energy represent the state-of-the-art in wind turbine and generator design that take advantage of low wind speeds where traditional systems are ineffective or fail.
Zwynd™ turbines range in size from 5kw up to 250kw of rated output.

Key Features & Benefits:
- Magnetic Levitated (Maglev) - Near frictionless turbine, Start speeds < 2 mph (.89 m/s). Power generated in < 5 mph (2.24 m/s)
- Virtually Silent - No measured Harmonics, and near zero Vibration. No Shockwaves to damage roofs, or people inside buildings.
- No annoying Shadow Flicker from Blades moving in the Sunlight as with nearly all traditional turbine designs.
- Omni-Directional Design - Allows for instantaneous collection of wind energy from quickly changing directions. Designed for any Urban environment.
- Environmentally Friendly - Birds and bats can detect the turbines and avoid colliding with them
- Direct Drive Generator - .No gears, belts, cumbersome braking devices, or any other efficiency-robbing mechanics. Nearly no Torque since there is no drive train to torque. Results in a higher transfer of wind energy to electrical energy.
- High Performance Multi Phase Magnetic Generator - Patents Pending - Uses fixed rare earth magnets with unique coil assemblies and alignment system. More efficeint than SEIG (Self-Excited Induction Generators).
- Uses Scalable Wind Directors (Panels) extending out from the central turbine effectively gathering more air stream and doubling the wind speed when it reaches the trubine (patent pending).
- Designed for Harsh Environments
- Arctic weather
- Icing conditions
- High winds 125+ mph (60.35 m/s)
- Golf Ball Size Hail conditions.
- Requires Very Little Regular Maintenance, so operating costs are greatly reduced. There are only a couple moving parts (bearings on the vertical shaft), so there is little to repair or adjust routinely.
- Low Weight - Easier Installation and Loads on Installing structure. Most turbines should not exeed typical commercial roof design weight limits, so no additional reinforcement may be required.
